Advice from Administrators
"I recently learned a concept that is helpful. Instead letting or fighting to block in the negative thoughts, just let them be. They can have their place just sitting there stagnant but can't overpower you."
"As someone who schedules yoga in the hospital that employees can't even come to, I'm all too familiar with the barriers. I've found that if someone can't come down to the yoga class, or relieve their stress in another way, they can do small things. Maybe it's a short breathing exercise, or chair yoga at their station, or a group stretch on the unit. They can park in a far spot and use that walk to set an intention for the day and then to clear their heads for the ride home. In other words, meet stress relief where you are. Little interventions can add up and provide relief."

Advice from Residents
"Time constraints, especially those of us in GME training, are a big barrier. lack of structural supports including time off plans, adequate staffing of each service are also huge barriers. the best advice for dealing with this is acknowledging the problems and detaching yourself from them, doing what is best for your own wellbeing."
"Remind yourself that you cant fix everything in one shot. but you can talk to other people and try to address the problems or factors that cause stress in a workplace."
"Even if you're working long hours you can still take 5-10 minutes a day to do something for your own wellness, such as exercise or connecting with a friend on the phone."
"Feel the emotions and let them go. focus on something outside of work, as work should not be your entire identity or even most of it."
